Flag Repurposing & Retirement Program

FLAG REPURPOSING & RETIREMENT PROGRAM

The Glendale Chamber's Military & Veterans Affairs Committee's (MVAC) Flag Repurposing & Retirement program is a collection point for taking in U.S. Flags needing to be retired within the state. In partnership with Veterans IV Veterans Motorcycle Association, all unserviceable U.S flags collected will be properly retired through incineration by using the MVAC mobile flag incinerator, which was design and built by Wayne Cole of 501c Realty Team.

This custom built incinerator is extremely safe and operates completely by induction. The flags are lit by dropping a flare into the incinerator and closing the 2 ton lid, which is operated with a hydraulic motor. The incinerator also features

a hydraulic flag pole to proudly display a US and POW flag.

The ashes will be collected and properly interned in an ossuary donated by Dignity Memorial as the final resting place at the Resthaven cemetery (6540 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301). This site contains several buried vaults that will be

utilized to intern the ashes for eternity and has enough capacity to serve

this program well into the next century. A headstone identifies the area as,

“The Final Resting Place of Retired United States of America Flags” and

rests under a flagpole.

If you or someone you know has flags that need to be retired, please

contact Merlin from Veterans IV Veterans at (801)718-3960.
