Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers will present the 67th Annual State of the City Address & Dinner, March 1, 2018, at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel & Spa, 9495 W. Coyotes Blvd., Glendale, Ariz.
The evening begins with check-in and reception 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and program 6:30 p.m.
More than 500 business and community leaders will attend the State of the City Address & Dinner, hosted by the Glendale Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Weiers will outlay the City’s accomplishments for the year, and provide a roadmap for continuing the positive trends and momentum the City of Glendale is experiencing. Following in last year’s challenge, the City of Glendale has adopted and put into practice its mission: “We improve the lives of the people we serve every day.”
“It’s vital we continue the positive momentum that our city is experiencing,” Mayor Weiers said. “In the last year alone, we have approved projects that will directly benefit our citizens. The activity in the last year will result in over 1,800 jobs created. Jobs will help provide stability for our families and that is how we ultimately impact their lives in a positive way.”
Hosted by the Glendale Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the City of Glendale, the State of the City has been a time-honored tradition for 67 years.
During this event, leadership will pass from 2017 Chair of the Board, Jean Higginbotham of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, to the 2018 Chair, Maria Brunner of OneAZ Credit Union.

Glendale is among Arizona’s largest cities, with a population of about 237,000 residents. Highlights of the Mayor’s presentation will include the key initiatives and decisions, resulting in more businesses expanding in Glendale and additional businesses locating to the city.
Mayor Weiers will present a Citizen of the Year Award to two individuals who have truly embraced the spirit of community in making a positive difference in the lives of Glendale residents.
The invocation will be given by Pastor Mark Martin from Calvary Community Church in Glendale. Event attendees will be treated to a patriotic tribute provided by the Sounds of the Southwest Singers Community Choir.
The cost of the event is $95 per person (through Feb. 16), $120 per person (starting Feb. 17), $850 for a sponsored table of eight, and $1,200 for a sponsored table of 10.
